Our therapists will create a unique experience for you drawing on their wide range of training and education.
Our services include:
Restorative Deep Tissue Massage Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques along the muscle fibers. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury.
Relaxing Swedish Massage uses smooth gliding strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial to deep layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage therapy have been proven to decrease stress hormones (cortisol, norepinephrine) and increase your “feel good” neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin). This makes for better sleep and a feeling of well-being.
Perinatal, Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage Prenatal massage is a wonderful way to treat the aches and pains of pregnancy. Researchers have shown that an added benefit of prenatal massage is a better labor outcome -- shorter labor, less complications, less pain experienced. Pregnancy Massage is recommended for 2nd trimester, 3rd trimester, and even during labor! Postpartum massage focuses on helping to restore the body to its pre-pregnancy condition and to address the demands of breast feeding and of course, the physical and emotional stresses of carrying and caring for a newborn. It helps to speed a woman’s recovery by restoring tone to the muscular and connective tissue, realigns body weight to its original distribution, tones overstretched areas of the skin, increases circulation which assists in the removal of excess fluids, reduces swelling and nourishes the body.
Trigger Point Therapy A trigger point is a hyper-irritable tender spot in an abused muscle that refers pain ("triggers" pain) to other muscles. This is why sometimes the pain in your head may be coming from a neck muscle. Active trigger points keep the muscles tight, restricting blood flow and compressing nerves perpetuating a vicious pain-spasm cycle in the muscles. The effect of decreased flexibility limits movement encouraging postural patterns which may sustain the cycle for years. This therapy is a valuable component of preventive as well as rehabilitative care. These techniques release trigger points and restore movement.
Abdominal Massage Abdominal massage is performed in a slow, gentle manner which releases deep muscle tissue spasms in the entire abdominal area, prevents and corrects the fallen, tilted uterus and swollen prostate, and facilitates the normal flow of blood, lymph, nerves and energy throughout the entire body. These massage techniques correct poor hemodynamics of the abdomen and its many organs so vital to digestion, assimilation, elimination, secretions and reproduction in men and women.
Acupressure (Jin Shin Do/ Jin Shin Jyutsu) "Acupressure" refers to any technique using finger pressure on "acupoints" to reduce stress and balance the body energy. An "acupressure" method may be simple and symptomatic, or sophisticated and deeply therapeutic. Jin Shin Do® covers both ends of this spectrum, for it can be used both as a selfhelp tool and as a professional therapeutic method. Jin Shin Jyutsu® is a disarmingly simple style of acupressure. It works with a set of 26 points (called Safety Energy Locks or SELs) along energy pathways. When a pathway becomes blocked, energy stagnates. This initially affects the local area of stagnation, but has the potential to create imbalance along the entire pathway.
